Volleyball hosts first of three spring events

        FAYETTEVILLE -- The University of Arkansas volleyball team will host the first of three spring tournaments Saturday, April 3, in Barnhill Arena.
        All three events take place in Barnhill Arena and are free to the public.
        The Lady Razorbacks welcome Georgia Tech, Illinois and Kansas State Saturday with matches beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Lady'Backs open with Kansas State at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. match with Illinois and an 11:00 a.m. contest against Georgia Tech.
        Saturday's matches will feature an abbreviated format playing just two games to 30 points.
        The Lady Razorbacks finished the 2003 season with a 27-7 overall record advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Arkansas was eliminated by No. 6 Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., last year. The Wildcats finished the 2003 season with a 30-5 record and reached the Sweet 16.
        Georgia Tech concluded the regular season with a 34-4 mark reaching the Elite 8. Tech has defeated Alabama and Tennessee this spring and split with Florida. Illinois went 26-7 this season also reaching the Elite 8.
        Arkansas returns three starters and seven letterwinners this year and has added six newcomers for the 2004 season.
